Eliza and her monsters - Francesca Zappia

Title: Eliza and her monsters
Autor: Francesca Zappia
Number of pages: 400 p.
Genre: Young Adult
Published by: Greenwillow Books

Eighteen-year-old Eliza Mirk is the anonymous creator of Monstrous Sea, a wildly popular webcomic, but when a new boy at school tempts her to live a life offline, everything she’s worked for begins to crumble.

In the real world, Eliza Mirk is shy, weird, smart, and friendless. Online, Eliza is LadyConstellation, the anonymous creator of a popular webcomic called Monstrous Sea. With millions of followers and fans throughout the world, Eliza’s persona is popular. Eliza can’t imagine enjoying the real world as much as she loves her digital community. Then Wallace Warland transfers to her school, and Eliza begins to wonder if a life offline might be worthwhile. But when Eliza’s secret is accidentally shared with the world, everything she’s built—her story, her relationship with Wallace, and even her sanity—begins to fall apart. With pages from Eliza’s webcomic, as well as screenshots from Eliza’s online forums, this uniquely formatted book will appeal to fans of Noelle Stevenson’s Nimona and Rainbow Rowell’s Fangirl

I loved reading Eliza and her monsters. The story was refreshing and it was really new to see drawings of the author in this book. I especially loved the relationship between Eliza and Wallace. They are so cute together! I was wishing the best for them when I was devouring this book. But I couldn't stop myself to be frustrated when Wallace discovered that she was Lady Constellation. He could've been happy to meet his favorite author, but no, he acted like a jerk and stopped talking to her. It was pretty long before we arrived to this part of the story and I was sure it would've happen sooner because they talk a lot about it in the synopsis. But even tho it's far in the book, we arrive pretty fast at that part, because the book is really fun to read and isn't difficult to read.
Another reason why I loved this book is because I felt a bound with the character of Eliza. She have anxiety and doesn't have a big relation with her parents.

A list of cages - Robin Roe

Title: A List of Cages
Autor: Robin Roe
Number of pages: 310p.
Genre: Young Adult
Published by: Disney-Hyperion

When Adam Blake lands the best elective ever in his senior year, serving as an aide to the school psychologist, he thinks he’s got it made. Sure, it means a lot of sitting around, which isn’t easy for a guy with ADHD, but he can’t complain, since he gets to spend the period texting all his friends. Then the doctor asks him to track down the troubled freshman who keeps dodging her, and Adam discovers that the boy is Julian—the foster brother he hasn’t seen in five years.

Adam is ecstatic to be reunited. At first, Julian seems like the boy he once knew. He’s still kindhearted. He still writes stories and loves picture books meant for little kids. But as they spend more time together, Adam realizes that Julian is keeping secrets, like where he hides during the middle of the day, and what’s really going on inside his house. Adam is determined to help him, but his involvement could cost both boys their lives…

This is my favorite book of 2017 so far and my first 5 stars book this year too. It was a poignant story, that made me cry three times. Yes, it was that good! Last time was 2 years ago with ''The fault in our stars'' by John Greene.  It was beautifully written and I hope she writes another book at least. I liked that you can see the strong link between the children and their parents. Especially Adam and his mother. You can sense all their love for each other and it made me feel good.
During the book, we feel the need to take Julian in our arms and to be friend with Adam and his group.
Talking about Adam's group, I loved them! They are so open and I particularly liked Charlie. Who's a sweetheart even if he doesn't want to be.
Other than that, Adam have ADHD and the book gives a good portrait about how a person lives with it.
I recommend this book so much, it's a must read for everyone. Go read it!

OwlCrate - Mai 2017

 Qui? OwlCrate
Quoi?

Eliza and her monsters - Francesca Zappia - 19.53$ sur Amazon.

Awesome Pack - Avril 2017

Qui?Awesome Pack
Quoi?

The Upside of Unrequited - Becky Albertalli

Title: The Upside of Unrequited
Autor: Becky Albertalli
Number of pages: 336p.
Genre: Young Adult
Published by: Balzer & Bray/Harperteen

Seventeen-year-old Molly Peskin-Suso knows all about unrequited love. No matter how many times her twin sister, Cassie, tells her to woman up, Molly can’t stomach the idea of rejection. So she’s careful. Fat girls always have to be careful.

Then a cute new girl enters Cassie’s orbit, and for the first time ever, Molly’s cynical twin is a lovesick mess. Meanwhile, Molly's totally not dying of loneliness—except for the part where she is. Luckily, Cassie's new girlfriend comes with a cute hipster-boy sidekick. If Molly can win him over, she'll get her first kiss and she'll get her twin back.

There's only one problem: Molly's coworker, Reid. He's a chubby Tolkien superfan with a season pass to the Ren Faire, and there's absolutely no way Molly could fall for him.

Right?

I received this book in this month's OwlCrate and I LOVED it! I think I devoured it in two days.
I felt this connection with the characters and I never felt like this with a book. I had so much in common with the characters, like Molly who suffer from anxiety, her brother who's name's Xavier,  Mina who is pansexual. There was a lot I was able to connect with.
At the same time, the characters are so different from one and another that everybody can feel the same connection that I felt.

Talking about anxiety, Molly takes meds and it feel so good to have a character like that in a book. It make her more human.
There's a lot of diversity as you can see but the introduction to it is really natural. The book is not centered on this matter.

The author also use terms that young adults will recognize like Pinterest, Buzzfeed or Florence + the machine. I think it's fun to be able to recognize the website or the bands that the character go on or listen to.
This book is really funny, there was this sentence about guys who wears fedoras that made me laugh out loud. That is pretty rare for me to laugh like that because of a book. It felt good.

I higly recommend this book for anybody. I loved it so much, I coudn't stop reading.

Owl Crate - April 2017

What is it? Owl Crate
What's in it? This box contains a Young Adult novel, 3 to 5 bookish items and a note from the author.
How much? $29.99

The theme of this month's box is ''Head over Heals''. In an other word, romance. I don't really read love stories, but when there is romance in a book I'm reading, I love it. That's why I was excited to see what book I'll receive this month.
I wasn't sure I was gonna receive my box this month because I never received my shipping e-mail. So I wrote them a message today and 30 minutes later I received my box.... oups.

Simon vs. the Homosapiens Agenda Keychain - Bookworm Boutique

Like all the items in the box, this keychain is an exclusivity of the Owl Crate box. I needed a keychain for our mailbox key, so I'm happy to receive it. On the keychain it's written: '' The way I feel about him is like a heartbeat - soft and persistant, underlying everything.'' It is a quote from Simon vs. the Homosapiens Agenda, from the same authour as the book I received in this box.

Fangirl themed candle - Novelly Yours - 15.37$ for 8oz

I love the scent of this candle. It smell of a mix of coffee, pumpkin and chocolate. I will certainly buy from Novelly Yours in the future, because it's a good quality candle. The scent rapidly spread when I lit it et stay for a long time in the room after you blew it.

  Umberland by Wendy Spinale

This is a short story that I will not read because this is the second volume from an exclusive to OwlCrate serie. I wasn't subscribed to this box when the first mini book was sent. The cover is really pretty.

Pride and Prejudice Headscarf - Storiarts - 14$

I love this headscarf! It's really confortable. Sadly, I haven't read Pride and Prejudice yet, but I have the book. It shouldn't be too long before I read it. It's simple, but pretty at the same time.

The Upside of Unrequited - Becky Albertalli - 15.35$ on Amazon

I heard about this author's first book and I've put it in my to-read list. What a great surprise to receive her second book. I already start reading it and I've found some resemblance with the characters, making me feel more connected to the story and wanting to read more. I'll do a review in a couple of days, when I'll finish it.

Art Print - Evie Bookish

I didn't read A court of  Thorns and Roses yet. This print is really pretty and I'll probably put it on the wall of my bedroom.

That's all for this month's OwlCrate. I love everything, except the little story I received, because I can't read the first chapter. I love reading, I love candles, I love scarfs and I love tea. I couldn't ask for more! I will stay subscribe to this box, because each month I LOVE what I receive and the book is always a good discovery. I can't wait for next month's box. The theme will be ''Comic Explosion'' and it will feature a Funko Pop! figurine. I hope this will be a Thor figurine! We'll see.

Owl Crate - Avril 2017

 Qui? OwlCrate
Quoi?

Sur le porte-clé, il est écrit: '' The way I feel about him is like a heartbeat - soft and persistant, underlying everything.''

The Upside of Unrequited - Becky Albertalli - 15.35$ sur Amazon

Art Print - Evie Bookish

The Wrath & The Dawn - Renée Ahdieh

Title: The Wrath & the Dawn
Autor: Renée Ahdieh
Number of pages: 388p.
Genre: Young Adult
Published by: G.P. Putnam’s Sons Books for Young Readers, a member of the Penguin Group, 2015

In a land ruled by a murderous boy-king, each dawn brings heartache to a new family. Khalid, the eighteen-year-old Caliph of Khorasan, is a monster. Each night he takes a new bride only to have a silk cord wrapped around her throat come morning. When sixteen-year-old Shahrzad's dearest friend falls victim to Khalid, Shahrzad vows vengeance and volunteers to be his next bride. Shahrzad is determined not only to stay alive, but to end the caliph's reign of terror once and for all.

Night after night, Shahrzad beguiles Khalid, weaving stories that enchant, ensuring her survival, though she knows each dawn could be her last. But something she never expected begins to happen: Khalid is nothing like what she'd imagined him to be. This monster is a boy with a tormented heart. Incredibly, Shahrzad finds herself falling in love. How is this possible? It's an unforgivable betrayal. Still, Shahrzad has come to understand all is not as it seems in this palace of marble and stone. She resolves to uncover whatever secrets lurk and, despite her love, be ready to take Khalid's life as retribution for the many lives he's stolen. Can their love survive this world of stories and secrets?

Inspired by A Thousand and One Nights, The Wrath and the Dawn is a sumptuous and enthralling read from beginning to end.

I learned about this book from a girl on Youtube that I really love. Her name is Tasha. The story was so interesting and I couldn't wait to read it, so my boyfriend got it for me. (Thank you baby <3)

But I was disappointed by this book. Seriously,  I don't know what to think about it. The first chapters of the book and the lasts are interesting but I had difficulty to continue my reading in between. The first chapters are kept me reading because of Shahrzad's tale, but we never know the ending of it and I liked the lasts because there's a love triangle between the characters and I like those situations.
What really annoyed me in this book is that at first Shahrzad hates Khalid. She wants him dead. But out of nowhere, she falls in love with him. How can this be possible? I mean, he killed her best friend! She even completely  forget about her first love, Tariq and choose a man she just met instead. Something is missing in this love story and it's how those two fell in love so fast.

I'll read the second book of the serie, because the first one left me with too much questions, but I will not jump on it like I did with the first book.

Ipsy - April 2017

What is it? Ipsy
What's in it? This box is for those who love cosmetics. Usually there's 5 products that goes to cream, make up and brushes.
How much? 10$

Ipsy is a monthly box in wich you receive cosmetics. I say box, but it's more like a cosmetic bag than a box.  The products are selected by the questions you answer before receiving your box. They ask you about your hair color, what brand you like, wich products you prefer to use, etc. The products can be from brand that people don't really know are from well known brand like Urban Decay or Tarte.

Each month, I'm surprised by the beauty of the Ipsy bag. The theme of this month is ''Sideshow'' and the bag is right on the theme! It is much smaller than last month's bag. Another useless plus of the bag, the interior is so soft!

Meg - Twin Nail Polish in Lovey Dovey (Ipsy Limited Edition) 5mL (Full size) - 10$

The colours are pretty, but what a small packaging for a full size product! I'll have to use them wisely so they last for a long time. So, I got a mouse-grey and a taupe, two trendy colour as the Ipsy website says. It's the fist time I hear from the brand Meg and I like it. The applicator works really well and in two coat the colour is perfect.

How it look on my nails. I really like the colour.

ColourPop Cosmetics - Crème Gel Line in the colour DTLA - Full Size - 5$

Yes! I can finally try the brand ColourPop! I heard a lot of good things about it, mosty from youtubeurs and finally, I have one of their products in my hands. I received the colour DTLA, wich is impossible to pronounce. It is a dark blue and the product is creamy.

Hikari Cosmetics - Cream Pigment Eyeshadow in Honey Dew - Travel size - Full size at 13$

I already had received a cream pigment from Hikari and I LOVED it! However, this one doesn't excite me as much as the first one because the colour doesn't ''pop'' as much as the first one. I will try it as an illuminator, we'll see.

Sadly, we don't see the colour very much.

OFRA Cosmetics - Rendezvous Blush - 12$

Ipsy says this blush is suppose to stay on all night, can't wait to see! Because of the dark shade, this blush can be use as a eyeshadow too. I tried it on my arm and I think this blush is really dark for the cheeks. We'll see.

As you can see, it's really dark.

SKIN&CO Roma - Truffle Therapy Face Toner - 30mL - 27$ for 200mL

This toner take off the bacterias and dead skins. Also, it reduce the apparence of the pores. I was near the end of my other toner so this product arrived on point. I can't wait to use it.

I was thinking about unsubscribing to try another box, but I like too much the bag that I received this month to do so. I really like the ColourPop eyeliner. I recommend this box, because they ask us every month what we thought of the box, so they really care about what we think, unlike Awesome Pack and some other box.
